Street Network Generates Awareness For Vodacom Fibre Offering

Street Network Generates Awareness For Vodacom Fibre Offering

Street Network and Vodacom partnered to drive awareness of the mobile service provider’s fibre offering in Cape Town.

The campaign follows a best-in-class application of Out-of-Home and bus shelter creative, using the Vodacom brand CI and a simple message in the form of a thought-provoking question: ‘Wouldn’t it be better to be home-streaming your favourite shows?’

Site selection for the campaign was focused on strategically-located bus shelters along busy commuter routes, with a total reach of over 900,000 consumers monthly, resulting in impacts of 9.1 million thanks to an average frequency of 10 (ROAD2015/2016/2017C).

Jonathan Everest, Head of Sales at Street Network said, ‘Bus shelters are positioned to catch the attention of consumers on their daily commute, within targeted areas identified by the brand. Bus shelter advertising is a high-frequency media platform that drives both consumer recall and engagement. Our bus shelter solution amplified and extended the reach of the campaign with high levels of recall, particularly for residents considering the switch to fibre.’

Vodacom has embarked on an awareness campaign that sees it rolling out a thought-provoking execution across a number of strategically-located bus shelters along popular routes in the Mother City, targeting commuting Capetonians as they make their way to and from work, shopping and leisure activities.

The South African data landscape is undergoing significant change. The Department of Telecommunications & Postal Services presented its ‘SA Connect’ progress report to Parliament earlier this year, and in it highlighted how much progress had been made in fibre and cellular coverage roll-out across the country.

Based on data provided by the FTTX Council, the report found that the number of houses passed by fibre had grown from 439,000 in 2017 to 933,000 by March 2018 – equivalent to 112% year-on-year growth. Additionally, the number of houses connected to fibre grew from 89,000 in 2016/17 to 280,000 in 2017/18.

According to Future Market Insights’ research publication titled ‘Fibre to the Home Market: Global Industry Analysis (2012-2016) and Opportunity Assessment (2017-2027)’, the global fibre to the home market is poised to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 14.4%.

Their massive size and high-definition, LED technology gives brands the ability to deliver innovative, customisable content to consumers – and their unique positioning along the nation’s busiest freeway enables each campaign to reach millions of consumers 24/7 as motorists travel to and from LAX into West Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and the San Fernando Valley.’

These new signs join WOW Media’s existing network of eight full-motion billboards, all situated on key traffic arteries adjacent to LAX. As the region’s only digital billboard network, campaigns can be synced across boards for maximum exposure and impact.

Smart AV supplied a high-resolution LED display set in a staggered formation to achieve a unique 3D experience, which is powered by a single high-power media player. Using SignStix’s cloud-based platform, Huda Beauty can quickly and easily upload new videos, create playlists and takeover store campaigns in real-time. The store also features a number of digital mirrors and mid-floor tables, which display various on-brand messages and video content at specified intervals throughout the day.

Bringing elements of Huda Beauty’s online Instagram presence in-store, the experiential retail space provides an inspirational shopping destination for beauty lovers, while giving Huda Beauty complete control of all in-store digital content and campaigns.

Ryan Walker, Managing Director at Smart AV said, ‘The brand had amazing plans to create an entire backdrop made of LED walls. They wanted to stand-out and attract the attention of shoppers, so it was important that the AV added to a spectacular and dynamic space. The overall formation delivers a very unique experience for shoppers that we are extremely proud of.’

Kitcast Discusses Five Key Digital Signage Considerations

Kitcast Discusses Five Key Digital Signage Considerations

Founder and CEO at Kitcast, Egor Belenkov, highlights how the understanding of customer retention tactics becomes crucial as digital signage becomes more widespread among retail business owners.

The original idea of customer engagement is to bring value to your clients and simultaneously satisfy their needs. Therefore, you need to know how to use your advertising displays most efficiently and reach your audience in the right place and at the right time.

One important thing that you should keep in mind is that offline businesses are not just competing with each other. They need to be inventive to compete with more flexible online alternatives. That’s where smart digital signage content creation may come in handy.

As most entrepreneurs know, keeping a higher retention rate is more cost-efficient than acquiring new clients. And it doesn’t really matter whether you knew it originally or learned from your mistakes. The idea is to retain your clients and keep them loyal to your brand as long as possible.

These fundamentals of the digital signage content creation should help you boost your customer retention metrics and, therefore, increase your retail business conversion rate.

1. Customer satisfaction is key

First of all, it’s 2018, and you won’t find a business that manages to keep customers coming back without satisfying their needs. How often do you see people wandering around the shelves, looking at some product and trying to google reviews, feedback and opinions online? Your offline store won’t have to deal with this again with digital signage in retail.

The number of ways how you can improve the customer’s experience in your store with advertising displays goes beyond your imagination. That’s because with proper software, you get a chance to deliver any kind of dynamic content. You craft your own success here.

The most obvious, yet practical ideas would include:
• In-store navigation.
• Dynamic shelf displays.
• Constantly update reviews.
• Price comparison tables.
• Price match offers.

Digital labels can keep your customers informed about the stock data, best product features and even let them know there’s a new model they should check out ASAP.

2. Determine what you stand for

Studies show that more than 60 percent of clients usually keep their loyalty to a specific brand due to having similar life attitudes and values. That’s what we mean when we say ‘stand for something.’

When you start working on your brand bible, you probably begin with setting core values that your brand commits to. It’s difficult to convey all the values your brand upholds while maintaining clients’ attention. The best way to change that is to use digital signage network solutions to present your messages and ideas to your clients. Then you can gradually provide the information and reach people step by step.

Use your advertising displays as a platform for establishing your brand’s identity, as a stage where you preach and keep your followers informed and inspired. One ultimate approach to digital signage will not provide the results you’re hoping for. There is no magic pill, but even though the alternative way is a bit harder, it’s also more fun and exciting.

Planning different marketing campaigns and experimenting may sound a bit scary, but after all, it’s the best way to find a personal approach to your clients. Whenever you find a new way to reach out to your clients through digital signage content, you’ve got to stay patient and analyse the delivered results. Try out a few ways of dynamic interactions with your clients – having a chance to run different digital content on displays allows you to experiment as much as you want.

However, all of this is pretty pointless without proper in-depth research. Your retail business is probably targeting certain groups of clients. Knowing their desires and their needs helps you target them more precisely. With that being said, we encourage you to know your clients better: test, test, test!

3. Proper digital signage placement matters

We won’t give you lame tips on how you should hang your digital signage in a retail store properly. Since we’re talking about the dynamic content network, it’s a more flexible system than other signage systems. But what do we mean by proper placement then?

In case you have more than one retail store or even a whole huge franchise, you may consider segmentation techniques. Even though you work on attracting clients with particular interests, they’re still divided into groups with different wealth, discount expectations and own geo/cultural preferences. Also, don’t forget to measure the varying client traffic in different stores.

4. Interactivity makes it memorable

When we talk about personalised approach, we’ve got to implement more interactivity into our interactions with customers. While some of you just imagined how you’d install a large touchscreen with the online stock database, we want you to try something new. Don’t get us wrong, it’s a great idea to bring some of the ‘online experience’ to your offline retail store, but you can do more. It’s not necessarily about touchscreens. Dynamic digital signage content allows you to involve your customer in your marketing campaigns. Give them a chance to influence some particular aspect of your brand or engage in entertaining activities.

5. Advertise hot deals

Just do it. Digital signage player software allows you to change how the traditional ‘exclusive deals’ advertising works. Rethink, don’t just throw away old-fashioned tools and tricks. Customer retention is a huge deal for organically growing business. First of all, you’ve got to do groundwork and prepare detailed research of the audience you work with. After that, you’ll be able to target the minds and hearts of your clients through dynamic content.

The digital signage in retail changes the game drastically and makes a huge difference when it comes to engaging your existing clients. Make sure you take the most out of it by using the right software and running well-thought-out campaigns.

Primedia Outdoor Generates Awareness For Twizza’s Summer Fo Sho Competition

Primedia Outdoor Generates Awareness For Twizza’s Summer Fo Sho’ Competition

Primedia Outdoor branded a large fleet of taxis for a proudly South African soft drink company, Twizza, to raise awareness for its ‘Summer Fo Sho’ competition and to provide a rich brand experience. This campaign is set to roll out on key commuter routes in four different provinces namely Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Free State and North West.

‘The mobility of taxi branding allows advertisers to enjoy the dual benefit of exposure at large convergence areas and substantial audience viewing whilst en route. Ideally, this campaign will serve as responsive mobile billboards that promise to catch the eyes of many commuters and pedestrians on the move,’ said Lance Coertzen, Twizza’s Representative.

The campaign is built on calling out consumers to stand a chance of winning their share of R1 million when buying any Twizza carbonated soft drink. In essence, the campaign is set to deliver a more personalised experience and allows consumers the opportunity to connect and engage with the brand more effectively.

APEX 2019 Awards Open For Entries

APEX 2019 Awards Open For Entries

The Association for Communication and Advertising (ACA) announced that the 2019 APEX awards season is officially open for entry. The annual APEX awards are hosted by the ACA and sponsor Kantar Millward Brown, the official representative body for the Communications and Advertising sector in South Africa.

The APEX awards programme recognises and awards those advertising and communications campaigns that are not only creative but effective in delivering a tangible and measurable return on investment or objectives.

Mathe Okaba, ACA CEO said, ‘Winning an APEX places a real seal on a client and agency team’s achievement because it demonstrates the contribution made by the team through its collaboration and work. This is a call for agencies to enter their best communications campaigns, those that not only ignited consumer demand but delivered and exceeded on campaign objectives. An APEX is the only award that counts.’

The standard required to win an APEX award is extremely high. Entrants are required to submit case studies detailing their campaigns and how all possible factors other than the campaigns themselves have been considered as causes for brand success. To view previous APEX winners or to order their respective case studies, please click on the APEX tab on the ACA website.

The three APEX categories into which campaigns may be entered are:

1. Launch – for brands or services that are less than 12 months old with no significant history of advertising.

2. Change – for new campaigns from previously advertised brands that resulted in significant short-term effects on sales and/or behaviour – short-term being within a period of no more than 18 months.

3. Sustain – for campaigns that benefitted a business by maintaining or strengthening a brand over a long period, i.e. 36 months.

Compulsory briefing sessions for all entrants will be held at the AAA School of Advertising campuses in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The briefing provides prospective entrants all the relevant information required on how to enter, compile and adequately prepare APEX submissions and, therefore, stand a better chance of winning an award.

The 2019 APEX briefings will take place as follows:
• Johannesburg, 29 January 2019: 14H00 to 16H00.
• Cape Town, 31 January 2019: 14H00 to 16H00.

Attendance is free of charge, seats are limited and booking is essential. To reserve your seat at one or both of the briefing sessions, please email apex@acasa.co.za.

Global OOH Media Upgrades Abuja Roadside Billboards

Global OOH Media Upgrades Abuja Roadside Billboards

Global Out of Home Media recently undertook a major refurbishment of its holding in Abuja, Nigeria. The media owner invested in upgrading its entire network of 3m x 6m and 7m x 5m billboard sites across the city.

Abuja is a well-planned city with a population of over two million people. To complement the rapid growth and highly desirable destination, Global embarked on a process in which it completely refreshed and internally illuminated all its sites.

In a city that sees large numbers of people taking to the streets as they head out into the pulsating night-life of the city, the illuminated billboards add to the experience of an exciting and vibrant evening out. The illumination also extends the visibility of the advertising for brands, who now enjoy 24/7 exposure.

Sylvain Rouch, GM at Global said, ‘Our investment in Abuja ensures that we are delivering a world-class product in Nigeria, one of the fastest-growing markets in the entertainment and media universe. Last year it saw 15.7% growth, reaching a value of US$3.8 billion. With an 11.0% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) anticipated, globally only Indonesia at 13.2% CAGR is expected to exceed this pace of growth.’

Abuja, considered one of Africa’s top six property investment hotspots, is experiencing a major housing gap as demand for luxury real estate soars due to senior government officials and expatriates seeking to invest in the city. It is also known as the start-up capital of Nigeria, with a host of technology investment and development start-ups calling the area home.

‘Abuja is a key market in Africa for any brand looking to enter the highly valuable Nigerian market, consolidate its existing position or grow market share. Our investment in the newly illuminated Glo-Lites, positioned in high-traffic locations, reaffirms our leading position in the market while providing the coverage and scale advertisers seek in markets such as this,’ concluded Rouch.
