Designer of the year, Jessica van Wyk, won R210,000 in Roland DG South Africa’s Wrap2TheMax Déjà Vu Design Competition. Modern Marketing was a proud media partner.

Explaining the inspiration behind her winning design, van Wyk said, ‘I’d been reading a lot of fantasy books, and when I read the design competition brief, it just triggered this whole fantasy world in my head and I thought to bring that to life.’
‘I needed a challenge. I wanted to challenge myself and try something new, so I entered the competition just for fun.’
Designers could let their imaginations run wild as they embarked on a journey with Roland to shape a brighter and more innovative future together. Entrants needed to choose one client brief, and using their artistic brilliance, transformed these into something ground-breaking. Once the brief was chosen, entrants needed to submit a logo that screamed ‘wow!’, a vehicle wrap that turned heads on the road, a T-shirt that inspired everyone who lays eyes on it, and an advertising poster that made jaws drop.
