Razor PR Receives Global Recognition

Razor PR, M&C Saatchi Group South Africa’s public relations and reputation management agency, won ‘Global Best New Agency’ at PRovoke’s prestigious Global SABRE Awards, benchmarking the best PR work from across the world.

The 2021 Global PR Agencies of the Year are the result of an exhaustive research process involving more than 500 submissions and (virtual) meetings with the best PR firms from across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

Razor PR beat out two other finalists – Hong Kong-based Ashbury Communications and The Sway Effect out of New York – to garner the coveted award. Razor had previously been named best new agency in EMEA earlier in 2021.

The ‘Global Agency of the Year’ honours are considered the ultimate benchmark of PR firm performance, and are celebrated at various SABRE Awards shows. Decisions are made by PRovoke Media editors, based on a report card research process that it undertakes throughout the year, reviewing the performance of more than 500 firms worldwide.

In making the award, PRovoke editor-in-chief Arun Sudhaman described Razor as a ‘very 21st century reputation management firm’.

‘South African agencies are delivering world-class strategic communications. An award like this doesn’t just recognise the work we have delivered over the last 24 months since launching Razor, but are a real testament to a local industry that can stand equally tall with major global markets,’ said Razor managing partner Dustin Chick.

‘When we launched Razor in 2020, we were clear that we needed to change the status quo in the local PR industry by focusing on how strategic communications must create more measurable business impact. We’ve invested in strategy and creative talent, building an agency founded on the belief that we can be a better place for our people, and a better place for our clients,’ he said.

‘The fact that a South African agency won from among hundreds of entries says volumes about the quality of work and talent that is coming out of our country. As a group globally, we continue to focus on the strength of our creative product, and the work coming out of Razor is testament to this agenda,’ said Mike Abel – chief executive of the M&C Saatchi Group South Africa.

Earlier this year, Razor won the Diamond Award for Superior Reputation Management (for the BDO Clarity Charter), as well as five Certificates of Excellence at the SABRE Awards Africa. It was also named best new agency in Europe Middle East and Africa.

Closer to home, Chick was named PR Professional of the Year 2021 by the Public Relations Institute of SA at the South African PRISM Awards, and also joined the board of the PRCA Africa.
