Flow Communications Announces Social Media Appointment
Miliswa Sitshwele, head of social media at Flow Communications.

Miliswa Sitshwele, the new head of social media, joined Flow this month from Momentum, where she spent six years as the company’s social media marketing manager.

Leading her team to produce and manage high-quality social media content for clients, she will also be working closely with Flow’s public relations, content, design, development and project management teams.

Sitshwele is no stranger to Flow. She worked for the agency between 2008 and 2011 as a writer and researcher in what was her first job, after completing her National Diploma in Journalism at the Durban University of Technology.

‘Sitshwele is perfect for this role. She has more than 15 years of experience in the field, is savvy and vivacious, so we’re absolutely thrilled to have her back with us,’ said Flow CEO Tara Turkington.

Sitshwele has gained solid social media experience in roles at Native VML, Liquid Thought, Woman & Home magazine, Awethu Project and, finally, Momentum. During her career, she has worked with many of South Africa’s biggest brands and organisations, including the Nelson Mandela Foundation, The City of Cape Town, Gauteng Tourism, Maropeng, Awethu Project, Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, Kiehs, L’Oreal, Nestle, Isuzu, DripDrop, Standard Bank, Maybelline and Dark and Lovely.

Along with her outstanding social media skills, Sitshwele also brings excellent management abilities to the table. During her time at Momentum, where she was responsible for developing in-house marketing campaigns and managing the company’s social media pages, she worked with copywriters, graphic designers and SEO specialists. She also has plenty of client-service experience.

She not only intimately understands the world and machinations of social media, but is an influencer herself and maintains excellent professional relationships with businesses that source influencers for marketing and brand-building campaigns.

Sitshwele said, ‘I’m excited about joining Flow as the head of social media. My career began at Flow, so this is a full-circle moment. Over the years, Flow has grown from a company that started in a small spare bedroom to an award-winning agency, and I’m so excited to be part of a team delivering the best service to its clients. I’m looking forward to being part of a team that’s creating brave work and innovating in the social media space. I’m looking forward to bringing some of the knowledge I’ve gained over the years into this new role.’
